Celebration Today – End of Youth Baseball Season
Championship games, a home-run derby, awards and a dunk tank to drench coaches are all part of the festivity marking the season's end for El Cerrito Youth Baseball centered at Cerrito Vista Park today, Sunday.
El Cerrito Youth Baseball players will celebrate the end of their season today, June 10, with championship games, a hit-a-thon, home-run derby, awards, food, and a chance to dunk their coaches.
Games are scheduled throughout the day at parks across the city - Central, Harding, Castro, Canyon Trail and Cerrito Vista - and in Albany for the Pony Division.
Non-game festivities begin at Cerrito Vista Park at 2 p.m. and will include a Hit-a-Thon and Homerun Derby , Dunk Tank featuring the coaches, and presentation of the Dick Bloomer Award.

According to the league website, the award goes to the player, manager and coach in each division "who most consistently honored the game, respecting the Rules, Opponents, Officials, Teammates, and their Self (ROOTS) during the course of the season" based on voting by El Cerrito Youth Baseball families.
El Cerrito Youth Baseball is a non-profit, volunteer-run program for children ages 5 to 14 and is affiliated with Pony Baseball, Inc.
