Boy did we feel that one!. The first bump woke me up, and the second had our hearts racing. The bump was the P (pressure) wave, and the second was the S (shear) wave. The time delay between the two is how the USGS calculates the distance from the epicenter. Once they have three readings, they can pinpoint the location in three dimensions. The system maps it automatically, and that's how we find it so quickly on that nifty map on their website. Pretty cool huh? Now for my coffee. Whew!

Hi Betty,
Ty, for visiting on 5/6/11 & scouting about while taking pics of FKL book sale setting up. Over Saturday & Sunday, volunteers sold a ton of books! The unsold books & tables were packed up & put in place by 5pm on Sunday!
