Where to Get Sand Bags – for El Cerrito, Kensington Residents

The City of El Cerrito has sand bags for El Cerrito and Kensington residents concerned about flooding from the storms. You must show ID to prove residency and are limited to 10 bags, which you fill yourself with city-supplied sand.

El Cerrito and Kensington residents who need sand bags during a storm can obtain up to 10 bags from the City of El Cerrito at the city's Recycling Center.

You must show a driver's license or other proof of residency.

You can pick up empty bags, while supplies last, from the city's Recycling Center at 5701 Schmidt Lane during the Recycling Center's operating hours – Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5:45 p.m, and Saturday-Sunday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. On weekdays, go the center office and on weekends ask the yard attendant.
