Two Teens Arrested After Pair of Armed Robberies

See April 4 listings below for details of two armed robberies in El Cerrito and the subsequent arrests of two juvenile suspects. The El Cerrito Police Blotter for April 2-4 also includes four home burglaries within two days.

April 2, 2013 

Burglary – 1300 Block Elm Street 
An unknown suspect entered a residence under construction and stole construction material sometime between 3/18/13 and 3/22/13. 

Burglary - 1800 block of Arlington Boulevard 
An unknown suspect pried open the front door of a residence and then stole various pieces of jewelry. Time of occurrence: Between the hours of 0920-1830 on the 2nd. 

Burglary - 7400 block of Curry Avenue 
An unknown suspect entered the backyard of a residence, removed a screen from a window and then forced the window open. The suspects stole several computers and jewelry. Time of occurrence: between the 3/26 at 0700 hours and 4/2 at 1930 hours. 

April 3, 2013 

Trespassing and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - 11300 block of San Pablo Avenue 
A 35 year-old transient was arrested for trespassing and for being in possession of a device used to ingest cocaine. The subject was booked at the ECPD and then released with a citation. 

Driving Under the Influence - Cutting Boulevard @ Peerless Avenue 
A 47-year-old female from Richmond was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. The female was booked at the ECPD and then released with citation. 

Burglary - 900 block of Shevlin Drive 
An unknown suspect forced open a rear door of the residence and made entry into the residence. Once inside of the residence the suspect removed small electronic items and jewelry. Time of occurrence: On 4/3 between 1615 and 1743 hours. 

April 4, 2013 

Dependent Adult Abuse – 3200 Block Belmont Ave 
A 26-year-old woman from Oakland was arrested for stealing jewelry from a dependent adult. The victim hired the suspect off a craigslist advertisement. Officers recovered the jewelry. 

Armed Robbery - 7000 block of Manila Ave. & Schmidt Ln. @ Everett St. 
At approximately 1905 hours, the victim arrived at home in the 7000 block of Manila Avenue and was approached by two suspects, one armed with a firearm. The suspects demanded the victim hand over his laptop and I-phone. Several minutes later, a second victim called the police and reported that two suspects robbed them near the intersection of Schmidt Lane and Everett Street. One of the suspects showed the victim a gun and then demanded the victim hand over her Iphone. The suspect looked at the Iphone and then returned it to the victim when he realized it was an older generation I-phone. 

Approximately two hours later, Berkeley Police called the El Cerrito Police to report that they had three attempted robberies in their city. A BPD officer spotted the suspect vehicle and detained two 17-year-old Berkeley residents. The suspects were in possession of property stolen in the El Cerrito robbery. El Cerrito officers responded to Berkeley PD, interviewed the juveniles and obtained confessions from each of them. The juveniles also admitted to committing several additional robberies in Oakland and Emeryville. Upon completion of the interviews the juveniles were booked into Juvenile Hall.
