Police Find Carjacked Taxi, Burglars Hit Two Homes

The El Cerrito Police Blotter for March 25-28 also includes a carjacking arrest, two residential burglary attempts an a recovered stolen car.

March 25, 2013 

Recovered Stolen Auto – So 56th St. @ Madison Ave 
Officers recovered a 1995 Saturn, reported stolen to Pinole PD on 3/23. 

Burglary (Residential) - 6700 block Snowdon Avenue 
An unknown suspect entered the victim’s residence via an unlocked door and stole several laptops and miscellaneous property. Time of occurrence: 3/25 between 1100 and 2000 hours. 

March 26, 2013 

Attempted Burglary – 700 Block Pomona Ave 
Unknown suspect(s) attempted to force entry into the residence on 3/25 between 1330 hours and 2300 hours. 

Burglary – 3400 Block Yosemite Ave 
Unknown suspect(s) used bolt cutters to cut the lock to the garage door between midnight on 3/23/13 and 1000 hours on 03/24/13. 

Theft with Priors – CVS 670 El Cerrito Plaza 
Officers arrested a 49 year-old woman from Richmond after she attempted to steal over the counter drugs. A records check disclosed numerous prior convictions for theft and she was wanted on two warrants for theft. Officers transported the woman to county jail. 

Petty Theft and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - Cutting Blvd. @ San Pablo Avenue 
During a pedestrian contact, officers located stolen merchandise and a meth pipe on a 29-year-old Oakland man. The investigation revealed the man had just stolen property from Walgreens before the officers contacted him. The man was booked at the ECPD and released with a citation. 

March 27, 2013 

Assistance to Outside Agency - 5800 block of Cutting Boulevard 
Officers located an unoccupied taxicab, which had just been reported as a carjacked vehicle to the Richmond Police Department. Officers turned over the vehicle to the Richmond Police Department for processing. 

Assistance to Outside Agency - San Pablo Avenue @ Fairmount Avenue 
Officers responded to the report of a sighting of a 31-year-old Richmond man who was responsible for a robbery/carjacking that occurred several days prior in Richmond. ECPD units arrived in the area, took the subject into custody and turned him over to officers from the Richmond Police Department. 

March 28, 2013 

Possession Marijuana for Sale – MacDonald Ave / Conlon Ave 
Three men from San Rafael were arrested for possession of marijuana for sales after a resident reported their suspicious vehicle. One subject fled on foot and was arrested after a foot pursuit. All three were sent to county jail. 

Drunk in Public and Possession of a Dangerous Weapon - San Pablo Ave. @ Carlson Blvd. 
A 62 year-old El Cerrito man was arrested for being drunk in public and for being in possession of a collapsible police baton. The man was booked at the ECPD and then transported to the county jail. 

Attempted Burglary (Residential) - 1400 block of Navellier Street 
An unknown suspect attempted to pry open the front door of the victim’s residence between 3/27 at 1800 hours and 3/28 at 1900 hours. 

Warrant - 5900 block of Cutting Boulevard 
A 62 year-old Richmond man was arrested on an outstanding warrant during an unwanted persons call. The man was booked at the ECPD and then transported to the MDF.
