El Cerrito Patch Stats: 10 Years of Residential Burglaries

A couple of weeks ago, El Cerrito Patch posted a police report showing eight residential burglaries recorded over seven days. It was an eye-catching number, but cops and criminologists caution about drawing big conclusions from short-term crime trends.

While it’s possible that 2013 will be a bad year for residential burglaries in El Cerrito, a look at 10 years worth of crime data shows that residential burglaries have fluctuated between a high of 171 in 2003 and a low of 118 in 2010.
