More Break-ins, Alleged Wine-Stealing Woman Nabbed in Plaza Chase

The El Cerrito Police Blotter for Jan. 18-21 includes at least two home burglaries, on top of the 10 from the week before, plus the arrests of three bicyclists and of a woman who allegedly stole wine from Lucky and was chased through El Cerrito Plaza.

January 18, 2013 

Stolen Vehicle Recovery – S. 55th St. / Cypress Ave. 
Officers located a 1991 Honda Accord that had been reported stolen to Oakland PD on the 14th. 

Stolen Vehicle Recovery – Bayview Ave. / I-580. 
Officers located a stolen U-Haul pickup traveling westbound on Potrero Ave. at S. 56th St. The vehicle traveled westbound on I-80 where it exited onto Carlson Blvd. and proceeded to travel northbound on Carlson Blvd. ECPD units converged on the vehicle, stopped it on the I-580 overpass, and arrested the driver, a 41 year-old San Pablo man. He was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

Riding a Bicycle While Under the Influence – San Pablo Ave. / Cutting Blvd. 
Officers conducted a stop on a bicycle and arrested the rider, a 33 year-old Richmond man, for riding the bicycle under the influence of a controlled substance. He was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released to a friend. 

Riding a Bicycle While Under the Influence – Carlson Blvd. / Sutter Ave. 
Officers conducted a stop on a bicycle and arrested the rider, a 36 year-old Richmond man, for riding the bicycle under the influence of alcohol. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and given a ride back to his residence. 

Attempted Residential Burglary – 1400 block of 56th St. 
An unknown suspect attempted to pry open the front door to a residence but was unsuccessful in his/her attempt to gain entry. 

Residential Burglary – 11740 San Pablo Avenue 
An unknown suspect entered the acupuncture clinic and removed the victim’s purse from the treatment room. The purse was later recovered in the 4900 block of Roosevelt Avenue in Richmond with the credit cards missing. 

January 19, 2013 

Vehicle theft/recovery- 7100 block of Potrero Avenue 
An unknown suspect stole the victims 2000 Honda Civic sometime between 4:00pm on January 18 and 7:30am on January 19. Later this morning, El Cerrito police officers located the vehicle parked unoccupied on Norvell Street at Gladys Avenue. 

Resisting Police and Possession of a Controlled Substance – Cutting Blvd. & Tamalpais Ave. 
A silver BMW with two occupants fled from Officers during a traffic stop. After a brief vehicle pursuit, officers found the BMW, unoccupied and parked in the middle of the street on Tamalpais Ave. at Fairview Ave. One suspect eluded capture however, a 26-year-old woman from Richmond was located hiding to the rear of a residence in the 7000 block of Tamalpais Ct. and was taken into custody. The woman was found in possession of a controlled substance. The woman was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released. 

Automobile Burglary – 9989 San Pablo Ave. 
An unknown suspect smashed the victim’s vehicle window and stole a backpack that contained a laptop and an iPad, at approximately 1750 hours. 

Warrant Arrest – 11299 San Pablo Ave. Ste G. 
Officers conducted a pedestrian stop and subsequently arrested a 44-year-old Richmond woman for a felony warrant. She was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

Possession of a Controlled Substance – Eastshore Blvd. / Potrero Ave. 
Officers conducted a pedestrian stop and subsequently arrested a 34-year-old Oakland man for possession of methamphetamine. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released. 

Residential Burglary – 5300 block of Poinsett Ave. 
An unknown suspect forced entry into the victim’s residence via a bathroom window and conducted a moderate ransack of the interior sometime between 1700 and 2330 hours. 

Domestic Battery – 600 block of Liberty St. 
Officers arrested a 39-year-old El Cerrito woman after she struck her boyfriend during a verbal argument. The woman was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

Warrant Arrest - Waldo Ave. / Kearney St. 
Officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop and subsequently arrested the passenger, a 30 year-old Richmond man, for a felony warrant. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

Driving Under the Influence – San Pablo Ave. / Macdonald Ave. 
Officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop and subsequently arrested the driver, a 43 year-old Campbell woman, for driving under the influence. She was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released to a sober relative. 

January 20, 2013 

Missing Person (Returned Home) – 10900 block of San Pablo Avenue 
An El Cerrito female juvenile returned home after being reported as a missing person by her parents earlier this morning.

An El Cerrito female juvenile returned home after being reported as a missing person by her parents. 

Residential Burglary – 2300 block of Edith Street 
Unknown suspect(s) entered the residence through an unlocked door and removed jewelry. 

Resisting Arrest – San Pablo Ave. / Madison Ave. 
Officers conducted a stop on a bicycle and subsequently arrested the rider, a 26 year-old Richmond man, after he physically resisted and attempted to escape officers while being handcuffed. He was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released to a relative. 

Stolen Vehicle, Evading – 5700 block of Carlos Ave. 
Officers located a stolen U-Haul van and, while arranging for the owner to retrieve the vehicle, the vehicle fled the residence. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic enforcement stop on the vehicle but it fled westbound on Interstate 80. CHP became involved in the pursuit and subsequently assumed responsibility of the pursuit. El Cerrito officers terminated their involvement at the Macarthur Maze. The vehicle eluded capture. 

Recovered Stolen Vehicle, Warrant arrest – San Pablo Ave. / Madison Ave. 
Officers located a 1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass that was reported stolen to San Rafael PD on the 14th. Officers converged on the vehicle and stopped it in the parking lot of the Terrace Motel. A 23 year-old Richmond woman, a 30 year-old San Rafael woman, and a 21 year-old Vallejo man were arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle. The 21 year-old male also had a warrant issued for his arrest. All three were booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

January 21, 2013 

Petty Theft and Obstructing Police – (Lucky) 1000 El Cerrito Plaza 
El Cerrito police officers responded to Lucky for a report of a theft in progress. When officers arrived, Lucky employees were chasing a woman through the plaza parking lot after she stole (8) mini liquor bottles of wine. After a short foot pursuit, police officers took the 43-year-old woman from Richmond into custody. The woman was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and was released with a citation. 

Petty Theft from Vehicle – 1600 block of Liberty St. 
Officers recovered stolen property and arrested a 29-year-old man from San Pablo. The property was taken from a vehicle parked in a residential neighborhood. The vehicle was unlocked, at the time of the theft. Officers returned the victim’s property. 

Possession of Burglary tools – Albany off @ I-80 WB 
During a traffic stop, officers arrested a 22-year-old Pinole woman for being in possession of three (3) shaved keys used for stealing vehicles. The woman was issued a citation and released. 

Possession of a butterfly knife – Central Ave @ I-80 WB 
During a traffic stop, officers arrested a 22-year-old man for being in possession of a butterfly knife. The man was issued a citation and released.
