Corrections & Clarifications

Recent corrections and clarifications in El Cerrito Patch.

We're committed to accuracy, to acknowledging our mistakes, and to fixing them as quickly as possible. In stories where errors have been fixed, we note the correction in italics at the top or bottom of the story.

Here are recent corrections and clarifications:

Correction: An April 24 article, "," incorrectly reported that Edward G. Gill sold his 104-acre property to the University of California in 1928. His children sold the property. Gill died in 1909. The article has been corrected.

Correction: An April 9 article, "," misspelled the last name of the suspect arrested in the March 27 Craigslist robbery. It has been corrected.

Correction: An April 7 article, "," quoted crimereports.com, the official outlet for El Cerrito police to report crimes, saying four "armed robberies" occurred in the city during March 20-30. El Cerrito police later said the information on crimereports.com was not correct and that two of the four crimes were strong-arm robberies not involving the use of a weapon. The mistake has been noted in an update at the top of the article, and descriptions of the four robberies appeared in a later article, "," published April 9.

Correction: In an April 5 article, "," the main text correctly identified Mark Friedman as representing the Contra Costa Community College District on the Oversight Board. The list of board members at the bottom of the article incorrectly said he'd been appointed by Supervisor John Gioia. It has been corrected.

Clarification: An April 5 article, "," said the opening date for the El Cerrito Recycling Center will be April 22. The facility's manager, Garth Schultz, later told Patch that though the center will be open for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and tours on April 22, it will not begin operations until April 23. The clarification was added in an update at the top of the article and included in a later article, "," published April 9.
