Big second half leads the Gauchos to a 35-7 win in Santa Rosa
El Cerrito High School's football team used a big second half to power past Cardinal Newman High, 35-7, in Santa Rosa on Saturday night.
The Gauchos and the Cardinals were tied 7-7 at halftime, but El Cerrito scored two touchdowns midway through the third quarter to pull away, according to a story in the Contra Costa Times.
The loss put Cardinal Newman's record at 2-1 this season.
El Cerrito's record is now 2-1. The Gauchos play Campolindo High next Friday in Moraga.
