Former El Cerrito Resident Makes His Major League Baseball Debut Today

Marcus Semien played at St. Mary's College High and U. C. Berkeley

Marcus Semien, an El Cerrito-grown baseball standout, is getting his shot today at the Big Leagues.

The shortstop has been called up from the minor leagues and will join the Chicago White Sox's expanded 40-man roster this evening.

Semien, 22, played baseball at St. Mary's College High School and U.C. Berkeley.

This year, he hit .290 in 105 games for Double-A Birmingham and .262 in 31 games for Triple-A Charlotte.
