It was known as the Berkeley Country Club in 1920 when its founders met at the University of California campus to plan the facility. The course was designed by Robert Hunter and Willie Watson, and the clubhouse was designed in the style of an English tudor country manor by architect W.H. Ratcliff, who also designed the International House in Berkeley. "As one of the first clubs to open its membership to a diverse community, Mira Vista maintains a spirit of unpretentious camaraderie," says the private club's website.
