Small Dog Found – Owner Sought

A small lost dog turned up on a porch near Madera Elementary School in El Cerrito Saturday morning. We're publishing his photo and description in hopes the owner can be located.

A small dog was found on the front porch of a home on Devonshire Drive near Madera Elementary School Saturday morning, and the residents of the home distributed photos and a description in hopes of locating the owner.

The notice, distributed by the Arlington Neighbors email list, described the dog as

  • Sex: Male
  • Color: Black and Rust
  • Size: 15+ lbs
  • Breed: Terrier Mix
  • Coat: Medium length (may be just groomed)

"We have a dog and I can't imagine what the owner must be going through right now," said the resident who sent the notice to Arlington Neighbors. "...He seems to be groomed so I don't think he's been lost for long."

The dog was taken to the Contra Costa County Animal Shelter in Pinole, 910 San Pablo Ave., 510-724-3966, case number A687746, according to Denise Sangster, moderator of Arlington Neighbors.

The Contra Costa County animal shelter is not a no-kill shelter, which means that if this dog is not claimed or adopted within some amount of time it will be euthanized. I don't know how long this particular shelter will keep the dog before that. If the dog is chipped the shelter will contact the owner. The publicity should also help the owners find their dog.
No-kill shelters in the East Bay include: Berkeley Humane Society: http://www.berkeleyhumane.org/ Milo Foundation: http://www.milofoundation.org/ ARF (Animal Rescue Foundation): http://www.arf.net/ East Bay SPCA: http://www.eastbayspca.org/ Home at Last: http://www.homeatlastrescue.org/ Furry Friends Rescue: http://www.furryfriendsrescue.org/

Let's track this doggie's story and make sure he does not get PTS. He is indeed adorable. I hope his parents will retrieve him asap.

The dog is still in Pinole. No one has claimed him.

Some in Richmond do not agree with your viewpoint. http://www.tombutt.com/forum/2013/1305010.htmRead More “I have never seen a public servant work harder for anything than WCCUSD School Board member Charles Ramsey worked to complete the District’s ambitious program to rebuild or upgrade every single school in the system.” I wonder how this court decision will impact WCCUSD. http://www.contracostatimes.com/breaking-news/ci_23447723/state-high-court-denies-review-alamedas-measure-h State high court denies review in Alameda's Measure H suit The ruling in the Alameda case is expected to have far reaching consequences for school districts throughout the state as similar lawsuits over parcel tax structures have been filed in Yolo, Contra Costa and Los Angeles counties.

The WCCUSD needs to hear what thoughts citizens have on this matter. Currently, the WCCUSD boardRead More meetings have placed the Public Comment period late in the meeting, making it difficult for folks to comment. I have started a petition for modifying the agenda. http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/let-us-speak-wccusd/ In Hercules, we are still awaiting a correction to the taxation process, that apparently we are due a higher percentage as explained by Councilman Romero here http://pinole-hercules.patch.com/groups/opinion/p/2012-hercules-dan-romero Wouldn't it be ironic if Mr. Ramsey get's his wish before the citizens of Hercules get theirs?
