Obituary: Margaret Collins

This obituary for Margaret "Marge" Collins, a well-known El Cerrito community leader and volunteer, was furnished by her family and relayed by Sunset View Mortuary.

Margaret Collins, a long time resident of El Cerrito passed away on August 2, 2010 due to a brief illness.

"Marge", as she was so fondly called was born on January 30, 1922 in Pocatello, ID.  She was one of 10 children. Marge is survived by her husband, Marvin Collins of 43 years, by her children James Stern, Joan Statler, Cheryl Peterson, Kent Peterson, Marlene Hall, Marvin Emery Collins, by her 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and her 6 siblings.

Marge was an inspiration to anyone she met.  She belonged to many organizations including Soroptomist, Inner Wheel and Women's Golf Association. Because of her giving nature, she was always volunteering and was a fund raiser for various organizations.

She also served as Mayor of El Cerrito in 1982.  She enjoyed traveling, playing Bridge, bowling and golfing. Marge spent the last year of her life at Cortona Park in Brentwood, Ca. where she loved to participate in many activities with her new friends that she met when she moved there. Marge was loved by all.  She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
