Viewfinder: Bright Colors, Sunshine Bedeck Annual Youth Baseball Parade

Hundreds of 5- to 14-year-old players, coaches, family members gathered for the El Cerrito Youth Baseball parade and festivities.

Led by a Boy Scout honor guard and the El Cerrito High marching band and escorted by police officers on bicycles and in cars, El Cerrito Youth Baseball players from 5 to 14 years old kicked off their season Saturday morning with a parade. The players, joined by their coaches and family members, marched from El Cerrito High School to Cerrito Vista Park, where ceremonies included team-by-team introductions. Contra Costa County Supervisor John Gioia, who said he was among the players at one time, and El Cerrito Councilman Bill Jones joined league officials in welcoming the players. A hot-dog lunch followed in the parking lot of Contra Costa Civic Theatre.

For more information on the program, see the El Cerrito Youth Baseball website.
