Local Baseball Player Gets His First Hits In The Major Leagues

Marcus Semien collects two singles during his first week in the Major Leagues

Marcus Semien is officially a Major League baseball player.

Semien, 22, who grew up in El Cerrito, was called up from the minor leagues by the Chicago White Sox on Monday.

This week, the shortstop banged out two singles in four at bats and collected one run batted in, according to the White Sox website.

Semien played baseball at St. Mary's College High School and U.C. Berkeley.
