Writing Coaches Sought At Two El Cerrito Schools

Volunteers are being needed to help students at El Cerrito High and Portola Middle School

A non-profit educational organization is looking for writing coaches to volunteer at two El Cerrito schools.

The Community Alliance for Learning is looking for adults to participate in its WriterCoach Connection program.

The volunteers will work one-on-one with students at El Cerrito High and Portola Middle School.

The writing coaches will help students with English assignments and critical thinking skills.

The coaches will work two hours per day during school hours two or three times a month.

Volunteers don't need to be writers or teachers. They will be trained by CAFL staff during the month of September. Organization officials said they need volunteers to sign up as soon as possible.

This is the fourth year of the program in El Cerrito. The program is also used in Albany, Berkeley, Oakland and Richmond.
