New Enrollment Rules – West County Schools

The West Contra Costa Unified School District has adopted new requirements for verifying residency for enrolling students. Also changed is the age-5 birthday for kindergarten eligibility: Kids must be 5 by Nov. 1.

The West Contra Costa Unified School District has announced new verification requirements for resident enrollment and also dates for kindergarten registration for the 2012-13 school year.

The new residency verification rules, which took effect Tuesday, require three pieces of documentation verifying address and one photo ID. For details on what kinds of documentation are acceptable, please see the attached notice from the district.

Also required at registration are three other items:

  • Age Verification: birth certificate or Baptismal record
  • Grade level verification: transcript and most recent report card from the last school attended
  • Immunization record

Kindergarten registration begins Jan. 9 at each elementary school, 9-11:30 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. Please see the attached district flyer for more details.

The district also changed the date for the age-5 birthday used to determine eligibility for kindergarten. To enter kindergarten in the 2012-13 year, kids must be 5 by Nov. 1 this year.
