Cinema is a powerful and captivating medium for exploring  the mythic, archetypal nature of our experience as human beings.  As we have done for the past five years, this class will continue exploring a rich variety of mythic themes and archetypal characters from the world of film.  This year we will also focus on the idea of destiny as a factor in the human experience.  What is this mysterious force, and how may it be guiding our lives?  Participants are expected to view these films on their own before class.

Richard Stromer has a doctorate in mythological studies as viewed from the perspective of both depth psychology and world sacred traditions.  He has a counseling and teaching practice based in Berkeley and specializes in the application of the concept of personal mythology to issues of psychological and spiritual development.  For more information, please refer to his website: www.soulmyths.com
