El Cerrito Gauchos Win 21-0 Over Petaluma Trojans

The El Cerrito High Gauchos racked up their second football win of the season Friday night in a 21-0 triumph over the Petaluma Trojans.

It started slow — the Gauchos and Trojans moved back and both across the field Friday night. Nobody scored and it looked like the two football teams were evenly matched.

However, as the the second quarter progressed the El Cerrito High School Gauchos made progress on their home field, and in the seventh minute sophomore Adarius Pickett scored the first touchdown of the night, putting the Gauchos up by 7. The rest of the quarter played out with no score, leaving the Gauchos ahead 7-0 at halftime.

The second half continued to be a fight. The teams moved the ball up and down the field but were unable to score. Late into the quarter a Gauchos' drive paid off; with only seconds on the clock, junior Marshon Ardoin scored another touchdown, giving the Gauchos a 14-0 lead. The 4th quarter would see yet another touchdown by Marshon Ardoin bringing the final score to 21-0 Gauchos.
