Chevron to Report Results of Grants to West County Nonprofit Groups

Six organizations shared in the $1 million grant from the oil company.

From a Chevron press release:

On April 30, Chevron will convene the six Richmond-area nonprofit organizations who received a share of a $1 million grant through the company’s California Partnership, an initiative that invests in education and economic development in California.

It will announce the results and impact of each program in West Contra Costa County, including El Cerrito, on Tuesday, April 30 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the East Bay Center for the Performing Arts (339 11th St., Richmond).

Leaders from the nonprofit organizations will join representatives from Chevron Richmond, elected Richmond and West Contra County officials and other community leaders to hear a brief overview of the results stemming from their grant programs and how they have made an impact on our community.

Additionally, the nonprofits will be presented recognition certificates on behalf of Senator Loni Hancock.

Chevron launched its California Partnership initiative in 2009. Since then, it has helped dozens of nonprofit organizations geared toward economic development and science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education in and around California. 

Chevron has committed nearly $30 million in giving through the California Partnership since 2009, investing in programs which have benefitted more than half a million students and 6,600 teachers, provided some 13,000 new STEM resources for students, helped train over 10,000 people through job training programs, enabled 2,700 people to secure employment, and benefitted 2,500 small businesses.
