Where's My Polling Place?

Don't know where to vote today? We've got the official answer if you live in El Cerrito, Kensington or anywhere else in Contra Costa County. (Warning: some election mailers contain wrong polling place locations.)

Today, Nov. 6, is election day in California. Do you know where to vote?

Polling places move around. If you don't know where yours is and if you live in Contra Costa County, the county elections division has a website where you can plug in your address and find the answer:

Make sure you use the official listing from the county elections division, provided on the website or on the election notice mailed to your home. Some "Democratic" election mailers with endorsements sent out by a private firm list an incorrect polling place for the household that the mailer was sent to.

If you have a mail-in ballot that you didn't mail, you can drop it off at any polling place.

And tonight after the polls close at 8 p.m., El Cerrito Patch will carry up-to-minute results of the elections. We'll have one article for local contests – including the school board race for West Contra Costa Unified School District, school revenue Measures E and G, and the race for the board of the Kensington Police Protection and Community Services District.

And we'll have another article for national and state contests, including the California ballot propositions.

For more details about local contests in El Cerrito and Kensington, see the El Cerrito Patch Election Guide. And for election-related articles from El Cerrito Patch, including letters to the editor and guest columns, check the Elections section of our website.

ALSO -- if you requested a vote-by-mail ballot, but did not mail it -- you can take it to your polling place. IT IS TOO LATE TO MAIL THAT BALLOT IN! But please get your vote in, anyway.

I'm wondering why after years of voting at the El Cerrito Community Center (just a few blocks from my house), my polling place was moved to St Jerome Church which is far enough away that I had to drive. On my way I saw that Christ Lutheran Church, a few blocks from my house in the other direction, was another walkable polling place. I don't like conspiracies, so I'll give poor planning the benefit of the doubt...
