See Measure K Results on Patch

El Cerrito Patch will be publishing the results of Measure K, the proposed parcel tax for West Contra Costa schools in in the June 5 election, as soon as they are released after polls close at 8 p.m.

Polls in the June 5 election close at 8 p.m., and we expect results to begin coming in shortly afterward.

The measure would extend the current parcel tax for the West Contra Costa Unified School district for an additional three years, until June 30, 2017. It would also increase the amount from the current 7.2 cents per square foot of building area to 10.2 cents.

The current tax was first adopted by voters in 2004 and renewed with 79-percent voter approval in 2008.

The school board placed the measure on the ballot in part to reduce class sizes in high school and middle school and maintain lower class sizes in grades K-2.
