Patch Picks: Five Web Sites of Local Use
Plan your route, browse library holdings, find a pet, and more on these handy Web sites.
Looking for information relevant to El Cerrito and Kensington on the Internet? Here are five Web sites you should know about. (We’re not counting Patch, because you’re already here!)
- City of El Cerrito – All kinds of interesting stuff here, like the latest recreation brochure, more agendas, meeting packets, and minutes than anyone could wish for, and the Municipal Code.
- West Contra Costa Unified School District - Find out when school starts in the fall with the oft-requested academic calendar for the coming school year, see what's on the lunch menu and pay for school lunches online, and read agendas, packets and minutes. There is plenty more information, too, if you are willing to dig around.
- Contra Costa County – Find out what animals are up for adoption, search the holdings of all the libraries in the county system and have the ones you want sent to your local library, get election results, and much more.
- www.511.org - Get current traffic conditions for the Bay Area or plan a trip on public transit.
- Rough & Tumble - This site, which offers links to the day's news as reported by media throughout California, is the place to go if you're looking for state-level news such as what the legislature has been up to.
