You may have noticed the thermometer rising this afternoon, Friday. The National Weather Service is forecasting near-record temperatures for the Bay Area in the next two days, especially tomorrow.

The National Weather Service issued a "Special Weather Statement" for the Bay Area today predicting near-record temperatures today, Friday, and especially tomorrow.

"STRENGTHENING HIGH PRESSURE AND A WARM AIRMASS OVERHEAD WILL MAKE FOR VERY WARM TEMPERATURES ACROSS THE SAN FRANCISCO AND MONTEREY BAY AREAS FRIDAY AND SATURDAY," the weather service said in its usual all-capitals style.

"HIGH TEMPERATURES TODAY AROUND SAN FRANCISCO BAY WILL BE IN THE MID TO UPPER 70S WHILE INLAND IT WILL BE INTO THE 80S. ONLY LOCATIONS ALONG THE IMMEDIATE COASTLINE WILL REMAIN COOL AS FOG WILL PERSIST OFFSHORE. SATURDAY IS EXPECTED TO BE THE WARMEST DAY WITH TEMPERATURES ABOVE 90 DEGREES IN SOME INLAND LOCATIONS. NEAR RECORD TEMPERATURES ARE POSSIBLE...ESPECIALLY SATURDAY."
