Despite California's progressive attitude the timber lobbiests have managed to further perferate forest protection laws with gaping loopholes. As a result the majority of California's forests are in danger of clear-cutting. This method of harvesting timber is directly affecting our water quality and quantity, accelerates global warming, contributes to an increase in wildfires, and drains precious tax dollars to clean up after poor logging operations. In order to enhance our quility of life, environmental integrity and stewardship we must act immediately to elevate the priority of our California's forests in Sacramento.
Forests Forever was founded in 1989 during the historic campaign to save the Headwaters ancient redwood forest in Humboldt County, California. Our efforts helped galvanize the broad-based public awareness and outcry that led to that and other forest victories across the state. For more than 20 years we have been rallying Californians in defense of the state’s 17 million acres of woodland ecosystems and watersheds through year-round education, grassroots organizing, litigation, work in elections, and executive-branch and legislative advocacy.
Forests Forever is a California based non-profit who advocates for tangible solutions to protect California's delicate forests, water sources, and habitat through the grassroots up. Forests Forever has rolled out California's Sustainable Forestry and Watershed Campaign. Working dilegently to pass A.B. 380 (Chesbro) Forest Land Recovery Act which, when passed, will promote sustainable forestry practices and cumulitive impact studies on watersheds. A measure which is vital to the integrity of California's forests and watersheds. In order to amplify the community's voice politically a team of community organizers will be conducting their anual door to door letter writing drive and fundraiser. Now is our time to show legislators how much El Cerrito cares about the future of our forests. Forests Forever is the only organiziation activiating the community on this specific vital measure.
