City Workshop on Greening the Ohlone Greenway

The following is a city of El Cerrito press release:

The City of El Cerrito is hosting an "Ohlone Greenway Urban Design Workshop" on Saturday, March 24, 2012.

The City is encouraging area residents and Ohlone Greenway users to share their ideas for greening the Greenway from Brighton (in Albany) to Fairmont (in El Cerrito).  With Proposition 84 grant funding, the Ohlone Greenway Urban Greening project includes multiple elements including creating a raingarden to treat stormwater runoff, creating an informal "nature exploration" area, improving riparian habitat, and enhancing safety, usability and walkability in this busy section of Greenway adjacent to El Cerrito Plaza and the El Cerrito Plaza BART Station.

The City of El Cerrito is planning to host two community input meetings regarding the project design. The first meeting on Saturday, March 24 has two parts:  An  1-hour site walk will begin at 9:30 on the greenway at Brighton Avenue in Albany.   The site walk will be followed from 11:00-12:30 with a design workshop at City Hall, 10890 San Pablo Avenue.  Interested persons can attend both the walk and workshop, or just one part.
