Enjoy a "Playcation" in El Cerrito

The city's spring/summer recreation guide is not just a catalog of classes, camps and events but also a directory of community organizations and city agencies and services.

For a one-stop guide to what the city offers in upcoming events, classes, camps, services, agencies and community organizations, it's hard to beat the modestly named "City of El Cerrito Recreation Department Brochure."

The latest issue, the 80-page spring and summer guide titled "Playcation," may not tell you when to plant your tomatoes, but it will tell when you can watch the original Karate Kid film at (Aug. 13), the meeting schedules of city boards and commissions, and the contact people for 33 community organizations.

You can find the schedule for the premiere of the new film about the late folk artist Sundar Shadi, creator of El Cerrito's unique and extraordinary hillside holiday, or get information about the El Cerrito Garden Club's annual Sundar Shadi Garden Contest.
