Poll: Support Bill to Increase Tax on the Rich?

Assemblywoman Nancy Skinner, who represents El Cerrito and Kensington in Sacramento, is calling for an extra 1 percent tax on income above $500,000. Would you vote for it?

The state Assemby representative for El Cerrito and Kensington, Nancy Skinner, is to raise state income tax by 1 percent on income above $500,000.

Skinner, a Democrat, says the super-rich now have a lower tax rate than they did under Republican Gov. Ronald Reagan and that the estimated $2.3 billion that would be raised by her bill, AB1130, is badly needed to offset the damage caused by recent years of state budget cuts and to support the kind of investment California needs to restore its leadership in many fields.

What do you say? Please cast your vote in our poll below. We'd welcome your reasons in the comments.
