East Bay Regional Park District police officer William Deleon-Granados, will be honored Tuesday for his work saving the life of a Kensington bicyclist in his 70s who had a medical emergency while riding in Tilden Regional Park in the Berkeley hills on July 15.
The bicyclist, who suffered cardiac arrest, was found by Deleon-Granados lying on the ground. The officer could not find a pulse, and performed CPR for seven minutes until medical personnel arrived.
The man regained a pulse and was awake when he was flown to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley.
The bicyclist has since recovered and is expected to attend today's ceremony, park district spokeswoman Emily Hopkins said.
