Comment: Stamp the Books at the Book Exchange

Our Comment of the Week comes from a reader who suggests a way to stop book re-sellers from grabbing all the good books — stamp each volume with ""NOT FOR SALE - Courtesy of El Cerrito Free Exchange Zone."

It's been difficult to select a Comment of the Week since the end of September when the Windrush School crisis erupted. Our has 553 comments at last count, while our this past week has more than 100. Given the nearly impossible task of finding any standard by which to make a reasonable selection without appearing to take sides on an issue so highly fraught with community concern, we are treating the volume of comments on our Windrush coverage as a powerful comment in itself and choosing our Comment of the Week from other articles.

This past week also saw a relatively large response to the city of El Cerrito's effort to develop rules to address community complaints over aggressive book re-sellers hogging all the good books from the Book Exchange at the El Cerrito Recycling Center and making other users feel intimidated or turned-off from going there. Another thought - all incoming items could be boldly stamped/marked - "NOT FOR SALE - Courtesy of El Cerrito Free Exchange Zone". Maybe that would decrease resale values and discourage resellers?
