Climate Action Plan, Housing Development On El Cerrito City Council Agenda

The El Cerrito City Council will discuss a climate action plan and the latest step in a multi-use residential project downtown at its Tuesday evening meeting.

The council meeting begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall, 10890 San Pablo Ave.

On the agenda is the adoption of the El Cerrito Climate Action Plan, a document city officials have been working on since 2010.

The plan includes procedure to lower emissions, reduce waste and conserve water and energy.

The council will also discuss an extension of the exclusive negotiating rights agreement with Eden Housing Inc. for the city housing project on San Pablo Avenue close to City Hall.

The agreement will allow Eden to continue developing the project, which calls for 64 affordable rental units, 4,650 square feet of commercial space and 1,000 square feet of retail space on the property.

The council will also review annual reports and fees for the city's lighting and storm drain assessment districts.
