The City of El Cerrito is planning its annual Earth Day celebration on Saturday, April 26, with morning work parties across town starting at 9:00 a.m. followed by a volunteer appreciation lunch at the El Cerrito Community Center Main Hall from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The City of El Cerrito welcomes volunteers to help tidy parks, pick up litter to help reduce the amount of trash that ends up in our creeks, waterways and the Bay, and remove broom, an invasive and fire-prone plant, from the Hillside Nature Area and along Moeser Lane. Gloves, bags and tools are provided by the City.

Like previous years, the City expects hundreds of volunteers to participate. Individuals and groups should register online or by email to participate in a work party. Registration is available online at www.el-cerrito.org/earthday or by email to earthday@el-cerrito.ca.us. On-the-day registration is also available on the morning of the event at the El Cerrito Community Center, 7007 Moeser Lane, El Cerrito.

Following the work parties, the City is hosting a free lunch at the El Cerrito Community Center from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. for all work party volunteers and their families. During lunchtime, there will be some informational tables, an art activity, complementary seedling giveaway by the El Cerrito Community Garden Network and rock and roll music performed by Hot Rod Jukebox (http://www.hotrodjukebox.com).
