The City of El Cerrito will hold a number of upcoming meetings to discuss and hear public comments on the draft San Pablo Avenue Specific Plan.
A Specific Plan is a tool used to study, envision, and create guidelines and standards specific to a particular area. Once adopted, the Specific Plan will be a tool to guide development of a more vibrant, walkable, sustainable, and transit-oriented corridor that respects surrounding neighborhoods.
The City of El Cerrito San Pablo Avenue Specific Plan and the Draft Environmental Impact Report are available for public review and comment untilJuly 21, 2014. The draft San Pablo Avenue Specific Plan and EIR can be accessed from the City’s website at www.el-cerrito.org/spaSP.
Copies are also available for public review during normal business hours at the El Cerrito City Hall (10890 San Pablo Ave, El Cerrito), the Richmond City Hall (450 Civic Center Plaza, Richmond) and the El Cerrito Library (6510 Stockton Ave, El Cerrito)
Draft Environmental Impact Report Meeting: July 9th
A public meeting led by City staff will be held at the El Cerrito City Hall at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 to hear comments regarding the Draft Environmental Impact Report.
An Environmental Impact Report (EIR) is the planning document which describes the environmental impacts associated with a project. Typical impacts may include: traffic, air quality, noise, city services, and land use, among others. The EIR discusses these impacts and determines which ones are significant. It also describes mitigation measures to reduce the impacts to an appropriate or acceptable level.
Planning Commission Study Session on Form-Based Code: July 16
The Draft Specific Plan consists of three parts: a Form-Based Code, Complete Streets Plan and Infrastructure Analysis. The Form-Based Code will establish the land use and development standards which will implement the Specific Plan. The El Cerrito Planning Commission will conduct a study session on the Form-Based Code on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at 7:30 pm at the El Cerrito City Hall. The purpose of this meeting is for the Commission to provide feedback on the Form-Based Code and to hear public comments.
Public Comments Due July 21
Public comments on all portions of the Specific Plan and the DEIR will be accepted through 4:00 pm on Monday, July 21, 2014. Comments on the San Pablo Avenue Specific Plan can be sent to Melanie Mintz, Interim Community Development Director, at firstname.lastname@example.org and comments on the Draft EIR can be sent to Margaret Kavanaugh-Lynch, Development Services Manager, at email@example.com.
