City Council Approves Climate Action Plan

The El Cerrito City Council has approved a climate action plan designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the community.

The San Jose Mercury News reports the council approved the plan Tuesday evening despite objections from climate change skeptics and environmentalists who wanted stronger measures taken.

The plan has been discussed for seven years. It calls for reducing emissions in El Cerrito from 2005 levels by 15 percent by 2020 and by 30 percent by 2035.
