Celebrate A Century Of Reading At Library

The El Cerrito Library is marking a century of service with its 100th anniversary celebration on Friday at 7 p.m.

The event will include a history lesson from Tom Panas of the El Cerrito Historical Society.

Panas, a major supporter of the library, urged the El Cerrito City Council during a recent review of the City's proposed budget to fund additional library hours and an update of the 2006 Library Needs Assessment. Panas noted that libraries empower citizens, foster literacy, and serve as a gathering point for the community.
