Weekend Police Blotter: 10 DUIs, Robbery, False Imprisonment

December 13 

Auto Burglary – 5600 block of San Diego St. 
The victim’s silver Toyota 4 Runner was broken into on Dec. 12 between 9:30 p.m. and 10:40 p.m., while she went into a nearby business. The unknown suspect broke the right front window and took a Mac book laptop computer. 

Stolen Vehicle – 6600 block of Gatto Ave. 
An unknown suspect stole a Gray 1991 Nissan Pathfinder from the victim’s driveway. The theft occurred between Dec. 12 at 6 p.m. and Dec. 13 at 12 p.m. 

Robbery, False Imprisonment – 11100 block of San Pablo Ave. 
At 10:59 p.m., an unknown suspect confronted the victim by a trash dumpster and ordered him back into the business. Once inside, the suspect robbed the business and then fled with cash before police arrived. The victim described the suspect as an unknown race male, 5’9”, wearing tan pants and a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled over his face. 

Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 9900 block of San Pablo Ave. 
At 9:26 p.m., an officer located a 1997 Nissan Maxima that had been reported stolen to San Francisco PD on Nov. 2. 

Driving under the Influence, Driving without a License, Possession of Marijuana – San Pablo Ave. / Brighton Ave. 
At 8:36 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver, a 26-year-old Richmond man, for driving under the influence of alcohol. The driver was also operating his vehicle without a valid driver’s license. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department; during which marijuana was located in his possession. After booking, the man was released to a sober friend. 

Located missing juvenile – San Pablo Ave. / Cutting Blvd. 
At 12:16 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop. During contact with the occupants, the officer discovered that a 15-year-old Santa Rosa boy had been reported missing to Santa Rosa PD on Oct. 25. Officers attempted to reach the boy’s parents with no avail. The boy was taken into protective custody by Children and Family Services. 

Driving under the Influence – San Pablo Ave. / Moeser Ln. 
At 1:33 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver, a 44-year-old San Francisco man, for driving under the influence of alcohol. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released to a sober family member. 

Driving under the Influence, False Personating, Possession of Burglary Tools – San Pablo Ave. / Madison Ave. 
At 2:58 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver, a 26-year-old Oakland man, for driving under the influence of alcohol. The man provided officers with his brother’s name. During booking, officers learned his true name. The man was also in possession of altered vehicle keys commonly used to enter and steal vehicles. After booking, the man was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

December 14 

Mental health evaluation – 10200 block of San Pablo Ave. 
At 10:14 p.m., an officer observed a 33-year-old El Cerrito man standing outside, in public view, half-naked. It appeared the man was suffering from methamphetamine related mental health problems. Officers committed the man for a 72-hour psychiatric evaluation and he was transported to the Contra Costa County Regional Medical Center by AMR. 

Driving under the Influence – San Pablo Ave. / Cutting Blvd. 
At 12:11 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver, a 55-year-old Vallejo man, for driving under the influence of alcohol. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released to a sober friend. 

Driving under the Influence, Driving with a suspended driver’s license, DUI Warrant – San Pablo Ave. / Potrero Ave. 
At 1:38 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver, a 29-year-old San Pablo man, for driving under the influence of alcohol. The man was also operating his vehicle with a suspended driver’s license due to his prior convictions for DUI. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department. During booking officers discovered that the man had a warrant for his arrest from a previous DUI case. After booking, officer transported the man to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

Driving under the Influence – Carlson Blvd. / Butte St. 
At 2:09 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver, a 42-year-old Pinole woman, for driving under the influence of alcohol. The woman was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released to a sober relative. 

Driving under the Influence – Cutting Blvd. / I-80 E/B. 
At 3:23 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver, a 24-year-old Folsom man, for driving under the influence of alcohol. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released to a sober friend. 

Driving under the Influence – San Pablo Ave. / Knott Ave. 
At 4:21 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver, a 41-year-old El Cerrito woman, for driving under the influence of alcohol. The woman was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released to a sober relative. 

December 15 

Warrant Arrest (Theft Investigation) – El Cerrito Plaza 
At 10:04 a.m., an El Cerrito police officer responded to a theft at Lucky’s. When he arrived, he met with employees and then began searching for the thief. He located the suspected thief on San Pablo Ave. at Clay St. The man, a 50-year-old transient from Berkeley, had a warrant for his arrest. The officer arrested the man and discovered that he likely stole items from CVS, Trader Joe’s, and JoAnn Fabrics. The officer is working with Plaza stores to investigate the thefts. 

Petty Theft – (Safeway) 11450 San Pablo Ave. 
At 4:32 p.m., an El Cerrito police officer accepted the citizen’s arrest of 54-year old man from San Francisco after store employees detained him for stealing. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released on a citation. 

Residential burglary – 7100 block of Central Ave. 
Sometime between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., an unknown suspect entered the victim’s home via an open bedroom window and stole electronics. 

Driving under the Influence – San Pablo Ave. / Schmidt Ln. 
At 10:29 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver, a 31-year-old Rodeo man, for driving under the influence of alcohol. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released to a sober relative. 

Driving under the Influence – Central Ave. / San Joaquin St. 
At 12:54 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver, a 33-year-old Richmond man, for driving under the influence of alcohol. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released to a sober friend.
