Three El Cerrito High Students Arrested in School Robbery Case

El Cerrito police said they arrested three El Cerrito High School students today, Friday, and booked them into juvenile hall for investigation of robbery charges stemming from a lunchtime robbery at the school Thursday.

Three El Cerrito High School students were arrested today, Friday, by El Cerrito police in connection with a lunchtime robbery at the school Thursday, according to El Cerrito police officer David Wentworth.

The three male students — ages 14, 15 and 16 — were arrested at the school around 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., following an investigation into the robbery, Wentworth said.

Wentworth said the robbery occurred at the school at lunchtime Thursday and that he could not release any further details about the crime because it involves an ongoing investigation.

The three juveniles were transported to juvenile hall in Martinez, Wentworth said. Their names were not released because they are all under 18.

A voicemail left this afternoon for El Cerrito High Principal David Luongo was not returned.

Update, 6:55 p.m., Friday: In an email response to an email from Patch, Principal Luongo early this evening referred questions to Marin Trujillo, the West Contra Costa Unified School District's community engagement coordinator. Attempts to reach him were not successful.
