Teens from El Cerrito, Albany Nabbed in Separate Robbery Arrests

El Cerrito police log, May 19 – June 2

THURSDAY, MAY 19

Controlled Substance – Police arrested a 48-year-old Richmond man on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance during a traffic stop around 10:55 p.m.

Fraud – Police arrested a 23-year-old Daly City man on suspicion of falsely identifying himself as another person during the investigation and prosecution related to a drunk driving arrest. Police had arrested the man on suspicion of driving under the influence on Jan. 1. After finding that the man misidentified himself during the subsequent investigation and court proceedings, police obtained a warrant for his arrest and arrested him again on May 23.

Strong-Arm Robbery – Two 17-year-old Albany boys were arrested on suspicion of committing a strong-arm robbery. The report of the robbery was made at around 9:15 p.m. The boys were transported to Juvenile Hall.

SATURDAY, MAY 28

Robbery – Police arrested a 58-year-old Richmond man on suspicion of committing a robbery at Safeway on San Pablo Avenue. Police arrested the man after responding to a report of a man brandishing a knife at the store at around 5:20 p.m.

SUNDAY, MAY 29

Controlled Substance – At around 3:30 a.m., police arrested a 48-year-old Richmond man on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance. Police arrested the man while he was strolling in El Cerrito.

TUESDAY, MAY 31

Concealed Gun – At around 2:10 a.m., police arrested a 22-year-old Carmichael man on suspicion of possessing a concealed and loaded gun during a traffic stop.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 1

Purse Snatch – Three El Cerrito boys, two 13 years old and the other 15 years old, were arrested on suspicion of committing a purse snatch on the 6500 block of Gladys Avenue. The crime was reported at around 6:25 p.m.

THURSDAY, JUNE 2

Stolen Property – At around 11:30 p.m., police arrested a 17-year-old Richmond boy on suspicion of possessing stolen property. The boy had also attempted to evade arrest, police said. He was released to his parent pending the filing of charges by the Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office.
