Suspect in Kearney Street Robbery Turned in by Relative

By Bay City News Service

A Richmond man was arrested Friday in connection with a purse snatching after family members recognized his picture in surveillance footage, according to El Cerrito police.

The robbery occurred on Friday, Dec. 20 around 1:30 p.m., when a suspect followed a woman into the 400 block of Kearney Street, police said. The suspect yanked the woman's purse off her shoulder and fled with it on foot, police said.

Before he escaped, however, the victim used a pan she had just purchased to strike him numerous times in the upper body, police said. The story and photos of the suspect were released to the public today, and family members immediately identified the suspect as 23-year-old John Millohollin, of Richmond.

A relative brought Millohollin to police, who arrested him on suspicion of robbery after an interview. The case has been referred to the Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office for prosecution.
