Robbery, Home Burglaries, Starbucks Tip Jar Theft

The El Cerrito police blotter for Sept. 21-23 includes a robbery on San Pablo Ave., an arrest by K-9 Koda, two home burglaries, an Albany girl arrested for alleged theft of liquor, and woman arrested for allegedly stealing from a Starbucks tip jar.

SEPTEMBER 21

Stolen Vehicle Recovery – 5300 block of Cypress Ave. 
Officer Li located a stolen white 1990 Acura Integra that had been reported stolen to San Pablo PD on 9/20/12. 

Stolen Vehicle – 7200 block of A St. 
Officer Aguilar reports that the victim’s 1996 Honda Accord was stolen sometime between 9/20/12 @ 2100 hours and 9/21/12 @ 1300 hours. 

Petty Theft (Shoplifting) – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza 
Officer Aguilar reports the arrest of a 17-year old Albany female after she stole several bottles of alcohol and left without paying. The female was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released to her parents. 

Stolen Vehicle Recovery – 10601 San Pablo Ave. 
Officer Del Prado located a stolen 98 Toyota Camry that had been reported stolen to Walnut Creek PD on 9/20/12. 

Under the influence of a controlled substance – Schmidt Lane at the Ohlone Greenway 
Officers responded to the area on the report of a man screaming for help. Officers located a 23-year old man from Korea who was under the influence of a controlled substance. When officers attempted to detain the man, he resisted and fought with officers. Officers arrested him and took him to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

SEPTEMBER 22

Residential Burglary – 5300 block of Cypress Ave. 
Officer Li reports that a suspect entered the victim’s residence and stole property, sometime between 1130 to 1900 hours on 9/21/12. 

Robbery – 11800 block of San Pablo Ave. 
Officer Del Prado reports a suspect approached a 59-year-old man and demanded money. The victim gave the suspect cash and the suspect fled in a waiting vehicle. 

SEPTEMBER 23

Residential Burglary – 1300 block of Contra Costa Ave. 
Officer Arnaiz reports that a suspect entered the victim’s open garage and stole electronics and jewelry from the victim’s vehicles sometime between 9/22/12 @ 2100 hours and 9/23/12 @ 0730 hours. 

Warrant Arrest – San Mateo Ave. at El Dorado St. 
Officer Aguilar reports the arrest of a 29-year-old El Cerrito man for an outstanding DUI warrant. 

Petty Theft – 3090 El Cerrito Plaza 
Officer Aguilar reports the arrest of a 45-year old Richmond woman after she stole money from the tip jar at Starbucks. She was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, cited and released. 

Stolen Vehicle/Felony Evading- Arlington Blvd/Moeser Lane 
Officer Del Prado located an occupied stolen vehicle that was reported to Albany PD. When officers attempted to initiate an enforcement stop, the driver of the vehicle led officers on a pursuit which lasted approximately 40 minutes in the south Richmond area. With the assistance of the California Highway Patrol and the deployment of a “spike strip”, the vehicle came to a stop near the intersection of Carlson Blvd. and S.37th St. The driver of the vehicle then led officers on a short foot pursuit. Officers arrested the suspect, a 19-year-old man from Richmond, with the assistance of K9 Koda. After booking, officers transported him to the Martinez Detention Facility.
