You're probably seen the police radar trailer around El Cerrito (and similar ones in other localities) and may have wondered who decides where to put it and when.
The trailer usually has a painted sign showing the speed limit and an electronic sign that flashes the speed of your vehicle as you approach it.
El Cerrito police traditionally have deployed it "in areas where complaints have been received about speeding vehicles," the department noted in a community notice last week.
But now, police said, residents can request the trailer by filling out a short request form on the department's Web page, or by calling the police department at 510-215-4400.
