The passenger in the vehicle was a 16 year old girl from Antioch.

The officer’s investigation revealed that the man bought alcohol for the girl and then drove her to a motel on San Pablo Avenue in Richmond. The two left the motel to get more alcohol when the officer stopped them. The officer took the girl into protective custody so she could be picked up by her mother later that morning.

The officer contacted state parole and after he explained the circumstances to the parole officer he was able to obtain a parole hold on the man for violating the terms of his parole. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

The alert actions of this officer most likely prevented a sexual assault by this high risk sex offender.
