POLICE LOG: El Cerrito Resident Interrupts Burglary

Tuesday, May 28

Attempt Residential Burglary - 1000 block of Brewster Dr.
The resident returned home and found two subjects loitering in front of his residence. The victim attempted to follow the subjects and they entered a parked vehicle. When the victim returned to his residence, he noticed a suspect running away from his house. The victim later discovered several window screens had been removed and a window was tampered with. No property loss reported.

Residential Burglary - 2600 block of Brooks Ave.
Unknown suspect(s) forced opened the front door of the residence to gain entry. No property loss reported.

Possession of Glass Pipe / Providing False Information to a Police Officer / Warrant Arrest - 11500 block of San Pablo Ave.
An officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a 46-year-old man from Richmond for possession of a crack pipe and warrant. During the investigation, the suspect gave a false name to the officer. After booking, an officer took the man to county jail.

Wednesday, May 29

Stolen Vehicle – 7200 Block of Waldo Ave
A thief stole a 1989 Honda Civic sometime between 5/28/13 at 2200 hours and 5/29/13 at 0800 hours.

Attempted Theft – Lucky’s (1000 El Cerrito Plaza)
At 1200 hours, three subjects attempted to steal over $500 worth of groceries. The thieves fled when they realized that store security was watching them. They fled the parking lot in a gray Honda Civic.

Drunk in Public - 11400 block of San Pablo Ave
Officers were dispatched to a business for an unwanted person. Officers located the person and determined he was intoxicated and unable to care for himself. Officers arrested and cited the man for public intoxication. They also arranged for transportation to county hospital for medical treatment.

Warrant Arrest – Richmond St / Blake St.
An officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the passenger for an outstanding warrant. The 20-year-old man from Antioch was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility after booking.

Thursday, May 30

Domestic Violence
At 1055 hours, officers responded to a disturbance at a residence and contacted a 61-year-old man and a 53-year-old woman. Officers learned that a verbal argument turned into a physical confrontation, leaving both with injuries. Due to the mutual combat nature of the incident, officers arrested and booked both people for domestic violence.
