Police Calls: Four Stolen Vehicles in Three Days

Tuesday, January 21

Vandalism - 5300 block Cypress Ave.- An unknown suspect broke the window of a Mitsubishi SUV but did not enter the vehicle. The vandalism took place between 01/20 at 8:30p.m. and 01/21 at 5:55a.m.

Theft with Priors theft Convictions - 670 El Cerrito Plaza, CVS- At 1:20p.m., store security arrested a 32 year-old El Cerrito woman for stealing nearly four hundred dollars worth of cosmetics. While being booked at the ECPD it was discovered the woman had numerous prior theft related convictions. The woman was booked and then transported to the Contra Costa County Detention Facility in Martinez.

Burglary - 6700 block of Schmidt Ln.- A citizen reports an unknown suspect pried open the rear door of a residence between 10:30 a.m. and 1:45p.m. on 01/21. The suspect(s) fled with property valued at $700.00 dollars.

Prowling - 6700 block of Cutting Blvd.- On 01/21, at 12:30p.m. a resident reports an unknown subject knocked on the front door of the residence and when nobody answered, the suspect(s) climbed the fence into the backyard. As the suspect(s) tried to open the rear door they were scared off by the occupants.

Stolen Vehicle – 6600 block of Hill St.
At 5:44 p.m., an unknown suspect stole the a 1996 Honda Accord from in front of their residence.

Driving Under the Influence – Carlson Blvd. / Panama Ave.
At 10:05p.m., an officer made a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver, a 57-year-old El Sobrante woman, for driving under the influence of alcohol. The woman was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released to a sober friend.

Wednesday, January 22

Stolen Vehicle - S.56TH St. at Cypress Ave.
An unknown suspect stole a 2002 Buick Century between 11:00 a.m, and 1:21p.m., on 01/22.

Drunk-in-Public - Cutting Blvd. at Peerless Ave.
At 4:30p.m., officers arrested a 36 year-old transient after he was found to be too intoxicated to care for himself. The man was booked at the ECPD and then transported to the Contra Costa County Detention Facility in Martinez.

Missing Person – 1700 block of Walnut Ave.
At approximately 6:22p.m., a relative of a 28-year-old El Cerrito man reported the man left home in early November and had not been heard from since.

Driving Under the Influence – San Pablo Ave. / Hill St.
At 10:00p.m., an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver, a 31-year-old Oakland man for driving under the influence of alcohol. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released to a sober family member.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 6500 block of Donal Ave.
At 2:45a.m., an officer was passed by a Dodge Neon at a high rate of speed. Officers responded to the area looking for the vehicle. A short time later, an officer located the vehicle, unoccupied in an apartment complex with the engine running. The ignition was found damaged and bypassed. Officers located the registered owner and learned the vehicle was stolen in Oakland three hours prior but the police had not yet arrived to take the report.

Thursday, January 23

Stolen Vehicle - 500 block Liberty St.
An unknown suspect stole a 1990 Honda Civic between 01/22 at 4:00p.m., and 01/23 at 2:30p.m.

Stolen Vehicle – Lexington Ave. / Gladys Ave.
Sometime between 1:00p.m., and 6:00p.m., an unknown suspect stole the victim’s 1991 Honda Accord.

Driving Under the Influence – San Pablo Ave. / Moeser Ln.
At 9:57p.m., an officer made a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver, a 42-year-old Rodeo man, for driving under the influence of alcohol. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Contra Costa County Detention facility in Martinez.

Driving Under the Influence – Carlson Blvd. / El Dorado Ave.
At 2:08a.m., an officer made a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver, a 27-year-old Albany woman, for driving under the influence of alcohol. The woman was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released to a sober friend.
