Police Blotter: Aug. 3 - Aug. 22

Police reports issued by the El Cerrito Police Department

Tuesday, Aug. 3

A woman on the 7600 block of Potrero Avenue reported at 3:22 p.m. that she was conned into sending $4,300 to Haiti. A man pretending to be the woman's grandson said he was in jail in that country and needed the money to get out. After sending the money via Western Union, the woman contacted her daughter and found out that her grandson was not in Haiti.

At 7:05 p.m., someone attempted to use an altered credit card to buy items at a gas station on the 3100 block of Carlson Boulevard.

Tuesday, Aug. 10

A Berkeley man was arrested at 10:30 p.m. after the man was found in possession of crack cocaine during an unrelated investigation.

Wednesday, Aug. 11

A 33-year-old Hercules man was arrested at 12:30 a.m. on suspicion of assaulting an employee at a business on the 7000 block of Stockton Avenue.

A 50-year-old Berkeley man was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting at a business on the 10600 block of San Pablo Avenue. Police responded to the shoplifting report at around 3:15 p.m.

Thursday, Aug. 12

At 12:05 p.m., four Richmond men between the ages of 18 and 23 were arrested on suspicion of possessing loaded and concealed firearms. The men were arrested following a traffic stop.

Friday, Aug. 13

At around 9 a.m., a 32-year-old Hercules man, a 29-year-old Vallejo man and a 21-year-old Fairfield woman were arrested on suspicion of possessing a stolen vehicle. 

Saturday, Aug. 14

At around 12:35 a.m., a 42-year-old Hercules man was arrested on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine. Police stopped the man while he was riding a bicycle.

A 39-year-old Antioch man was arrested on suspicion of assault on the 800 block of Liberty Street. Police arrested the man following a report of a disturbance at 2:42 a.m.

Thursday, Aug. 19

A 27-year-old San Francisco woman was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance and assaulting a police officer. Police arrested the woman after responding to a report of a woman screaming and running in traffic at around 12:15 a.m. The woman assaulted the officers with a screwdriver, police said.

Sunday, Aug. 22

A 62-year-old El Cerrito man was arrested on suspicion of assault on the 3300 block of Carlson Boulevard. The man was arrested after police responded to a report of a disturbance at around 9:30 a.m.

At about 10:50 p.m., police arrested two women and a man on suspicion of possessing stolen property and personal identification belonging to other people. The suspects were a 41-year-old San Pablo woman, a 30-year-old Richmond woman and a 35-year-old Antioch man.
