Police Blotter: Attempted Sexual Assault in Park, Residential Burglary

The El Cerrito Police Department selected and wrote the following items. 

December 11 

Driving Under the Influence - Carlson Blvd and San Diego Street 
At 1:52 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and suspected the 25-year-old female driver from Oakland was impaired. The officer conducted field sobriety tests and then arrested the woman for DUI. The officer booked her at the El Cerrito Police Department and then released her with a citation to a sober friend. 

Stolen Vehicle - San Pablo Ave. at Knott Ave. 
At 4:20 p.m., an officer located a stolen vehicle being driven near this location. Officers conducted a felony car stop at the Wendy’s drive-thru and arrested the driver, a 36 year-old woman from Richmond. The woman was also in possession of stolen checks, identification cards and a methamphetamine pipe. Upon the completion of booking the woman was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

Attempted Sexual Battery - Creekside Park 
On Dec. 12, the ECPD was contacted by a female juvenile who wanted to report an incident which occurred on Dec.6. At 5 p.m. that day, the victim was walking at Creekside Park when she was accosted by a male who attempted to take off the victim’s shirt. The victim was able to fight off the assailant and flee the scene unharmed. 

December 12 

Driving Under the Influence - Liberty Street and Fairmount Avenue 
At 2:05 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and suspected that the driver, a 34-year-old man from Berkeley, was impaired. The officer conducted field sobriety tests and then arrested the man for DUI. The officer booked him at the El Cerrito Police Department and then released him with a citation to a sober friend. 

Driving Under the Influence - San Pablo Avenue and Central Avenue 
At 2:58 a.m., a Sergeant conducted a traffic enforcement stop and suspected the driver, a 25-year-old-woman from El Cerrito, was impaired. An officer conducted field sobriety tests and then arrested the woman for DUI. The officer booked her at the El Cerrito Police Department and then released her with a citation to a sober friend. 

Theft with Priors - 11450 San Pablo Ave., Safeway 
At 1:05 p.m., officers were dispatched to Safeway on the report of a subject stealing items from the business. Officers arrived on scene and accepted the citizen’s arrest of a 67-year-old transient man. The man was booked at the ECPD where officers was discovered he had numerous convictions for theft related offenses. The man was transported to then Martinez Detention Facility upon the completion of booking. 

Residential Burglary - 2100 block of Junction Avenue 
At 6:54 p.m., an officer responded to a report of a residential burglary that occurred earlier in the day. The officer determined that an unknown suspect used a pry tool to open the rear sliding glass door of the residence to gain entry and steal jewelry and electronics. 

Possession of Suspected Methamphetamine and Narcotics Paraphernalia - 10400 block of San Pablo Avenue 
At 9:52 p.m., an officer contacted a suspicious person and found suspected methamphetamine and a meth pipe during a search of his person. The officer arrested the 25-year-old transient man and transported him to the El Cerrito Police Department. The man was booked, interviewed, and then released, pending crime lab testing
