Police Arrest Two Women, Find Bag of Stolen Mail and Credit Cards

The police blotter for April 22-25 also includes a vehicle vs. pedestrian accident, a home burglary, a mysterious bullet hole and arrests of two El Cerrito High School students in separate incidents — fighting and marijuana sales.

April 22, 2013 

Warrant and Possession of Stolen Mail – Super 8 Motel 

Officers responded at 0840 hours to a disconnected 911 phone call at the Super 8 Motel on Potrero Ave. A 37-year-old Richmond woman and a 38-year-old Antioch woman were arrested on outstanding warrants. They were also in possession of a bag full of stolen mail and other items associated with ID theft and fraud including credit cards and checks. The mail was turned over to U.S. Postal Inspectors for investigation. One woman was transported to MDF and the other transported to the hospital by ambulance due to a pre-existing medical issue. 

Drunk in Public - 11450 San Pablo Avenue

A 52 year-old Oakland man was arrested for being drunk in public and causing a disturbance in front of Safeway. The man was booked at the ECPD and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

Theft with Priors - 11450 San Pablo Avenue 

A 35-year-old woman from San Francisco was arrested by store security for stealing groceries. [Editor's note: Safeway is at this location.] Officers responded to the store, arrested the woman and then transported her to the ECPD. While at the ECPD, officers discovered that the woman had several prior theft convictions. The woman booked into the Martinez Detention Facility. 

Drunk in Public - 9937 San Pablo Avenue

A 52 year-old El Cerrito man was arrested for being drunk in public during a disturbance call at the Blue Moon Saloon. The man was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility. 

Drunk in Public & Disturbing the Peace - 9937 San Pablo Avenue 

A 37 year-old homeless man from El Cerrito was arrested for damaging property and being drunk in public. The man was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility. 

April 23, 2013 

Traffic Collision (Vehicle versus Pedestrian) – San Pablo Ave & Lincoln Ave 

A vehicle, turning south onto San Pablo Ave. from Lincoln Ave., struck a pedestrian in the crosswalk. The pedestrian suffered from contusions and abrasions on her arm and shin and complained of pain to her neck. She was transported by Ambulance to the hospital. 

Automobile Burglary – Macaroni Grill (8000 El Cerrito Plaza) 

An unknown suspect smashed the window to a 2013 Nissan Maxima and stole property left in the back seat while it was parked in the parking lot. The crime occurred between 1300 and 1500 hours. 

Discharge of a Firearm - 5200 block of Potrero Avenue 

An unknown suspect fired a gun from the interior of a residence on Potrero Avenue. As a result, the bullet went through the wall of the residence and then punctured a hole in the exterior wall of a neighbor’s residence. Due to the primary home being vacant for several months it is unknown when the incident occurred. No suspects were identified. 

April 24, 2013 

Fighting – El Cerrito High School 

A female El Cerrito High School student was arrested at 0940 hours after she grabbed another student by the hair from behind, punched her, and threw her into lockers. Officers detained her and released her to her grandfather. 

Sale of Drugs – El Cerrito High School 

A male El Cerrito High School student was arrested at 1250 hours after he was identified by other students as being the source of the marijuana in their possession. Apparently, other students had purchased marijuana from him. The student admitted to selling the marijuana. He was detained and released to his mother. 

Vandalism/Tagging – Fairmount Elementary School 

Unknown suspect(s) tagged Fairmount elementary school with various gang related slogans and signs. The tagging occurred between 1600 hours on 4/23/13 and 1200 hours today. 

Burglary - 2600 block of Tamalpais Avenue 

An unknown suspect entered a residence through an open window and then removed miscellaneous jewelry and clothing. The burglary occurred between 04/20 at 0700 hours and 04/24 at 2100 hours. 

Domestic Violence - 500 block of Everett Street 

Officers were dispatched to a domestic disturbance at a residence located on Everett Street. Upon arrival, officers determined the suspect and her domestic partner were involved in a physical altercation. Due to a severe medical condition the suspect was transported to the hospital. 

April 25, 2013 

Automobile Burglary – Denny’s Restaurant (11344 San Pablo Ave.) 

Unknown suspect smashed the window to a 2001Chevy Tahoe and stole property left in the back seat while it was in the parking lot. The crime occurred between 0900 and 0943 hours.
