Police Arrest Suspect in Pinole In-N-Out Shooting

Pinole police announced Friday that they've arrested an Oakland man in connection with the shooting of another man at the In-N-Out Burger on Fitzgerald Drive on Monday. A second suspect is still at large.

Pinole police announced on Friday the arrest of a suspect in of a 23-year-old man at the In-N-Out Burger restaurant on Fitzgerald Drive in Pinole.

Pinole detectives arrested parolee Salaam Scottzsha, a 25-year-old Oakland resident, on Wednesday, according to a news release. Schottzsha is on a parole hold at the county jail in Martinez. Charges in Monday's shooting are pending. Based on descriptions of two suspects seen fleeing the scene, police appear to believe Scottzsha was the shooter.

Pinole police are still working to identify a second suspect, described as an African-American man, 18-25 years old. He is 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall, 160-180 pounds with a dark complexion, short hair and mustache. At the time of the shooting, he was wearing black jeans and a "Bulls" jacket.

The shooting happened shortly after 5 p.m. in the parking lot of the restaurant. Police have said they expect that illegal drug activity was involved. The victim, a 23-year-old man from Sacramento, suffered gunshot wounds to the chest. He was airlifted to John Muir Medical Center, where he had surgery. At the latest report, he was in serious and stable condition.
