Police Arrest Suspect in Daytime Burglary Caught on Camera

Police recognized one of the men from the burglary footage when he walked near police headquarters three days later.

Police arrested one of the men captured on camera during a daytime residential burglary last week, according to the El Cerrito Police Department. Dajuan Desheme Blackwell, 24, of Oakland was arrested, interrogated, and booked into county jail Friday on suspicion of burglary after he walked within three blocks of police headquarters wearing the same clothes he had on in the surveillance video.

The Contra Costa County District Attorney has filed burglary charges against Blackwell.

On Sept. 24, a video camera recorded the man police believe is Blackwell spotting the surveillance device just as an accomplice kicked in the front door of a house on Cutting Boulevard. Lt. Paul Keith said police are still looking for the second man in the video.
