PG&E Phone Scam Surfaces in El Cerrito

Police tell residents not to comply with the caller in these situations.

Police have issued a warning about a phone scam that has resurfaced in El Cerrito. 

Information provided by El Cerrito Police Nixle Alerts:

The ECPD has received a report of an attempt to steal money from a business by means of a phone caller claiming to be from Pacific Gas & Electric and demanding immediate payment. 

Local news has covered similar crimes occurring around the Bay Area. Please view this so you are aware of the issue and know not to comply with such a phone call.

gotta be on our toes every minute these days. My friend who is disabled was in the parking lot of the Target store in Brentwood and a lady ran up and stole her purse while she was getting her walker out of the car.
